How To Fill and Shape Eyebrows Using Photoshop

While eyebrow trends keep changing from pencil-thin to thick and bushy, eyebrows always require special attention as they frame the face and give it character. Today makeup artists and regular women make sure the eyebrows look filled and groomed, and that’s what we should do in our beauty, fashion and portrait images.

Of course, it’s important to have a skilled makeup artist prep and groom the subject’s eyebrows before the capture. However, as a retoucher you often don’t have control over the source material, so it’s important that you know how to fill in sparse eyebrows in Photoshop.

In the tutorial below, Aaron Nace of Phlearn will teach you how to use the Pen tool to create a path around the eyebrow, then to gradually fill it in with the Brush tool to achieve a natural brow color. He will also show you how to create realistic eyebrow hairs with short strokes from a pressure sensitive tablet or a mouse.
