Adobe Slashes Creative Cloud Subscription Fee for Students

Last January Adobe announced that it would provide Spark Education — a set of storytelling apps — free of charge for K-12 (kindergarten to 12th grade, primary and secondary education) schools and High Education institutions. This was great news for educators and students everywhere. Today, Adobe announces that it will slash its Creative Cloud price for K-12 schools, going from 240$ down to 5$ per student per year.

As teachers shift their classrooms to incorporate creative projects that build these skills, we at Adobe are also shifting our offerings to give them an affordable, easy, and quick way to succeed.

These student licenses will allow access to apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, etc. Students will be able to login and use the apps from school, home, or anywhere, and on any device they choose. These licenses will be made available from authorized Adobe resellers with a minimum purchase of 500 licenses for a single school, to a maximum of 2,500 licenses for an entire school district.

This decision came following the conclusion of a research study which showed that the jobs of tomorrow will require strong creative problem solving skills. The study also says that professions requiring creative problem solving skills are less likely to be impacted by automation. Furthermore, the study found that one of the biggest teaching barriers in classrooms today are that of limited budgets.

The new pricing will take affect May 15th and will initially only be offered in the United States, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and India. However, the company confirms it has plans to expand the country list even further.

We are on an exciting journey, collaborating with educators to empower the next generation to be lifelong creators. With these two new offers, Spark for Education and Creative Cloud for K-12, we’re equipping teachers with the apps, training, and support they need to make this happen. We can’t wait to see all of the amazing things students create on their journey to becoming the creative problem solvers of the future.
