The WPPI Schedule of Seminars Inside the WPPI + KelbyOne Theater

WPPI + KelbyOne Announce Joint Theater at 3-Day Expo Featuring Free Presentations Focused on Image Retouching, Workflow & More

Industry Icons like Scott Kelby, Joe McNally, Cliff Mautner, and Pete Collins Take to the Stage to Present Lighting, Retouching, Lightroom and Workflow Tips

New York, NY (February 25, 2015) Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) announced today its lineup of speakers inside the WPPI + KelbyOne Theater to be located on the WPPI Expo floor. Over three days, the Theater will host twelve seminars each open and free of charge to WPPI Expo and Conference attendees. Speakers include Scott Kelby, Joe McNally, Cliff Mautner, Corey Barker, Tony Corbell, Rafael Concepcion, Pete Collins, and Mia McCormick.

Presentation topics will range from retouching techniques to tips for various software like Lightroom, as well as how to effectively organize image libraries using the newly-introduced platform, Mylio. In the spirit of creating and strengthening the WPPI community, the Theater will embrace an interactive style of education, encouraging attendees to ask questions and view demonstrations relevant to their personal businesses and workflow.

“The WPPI + KelbyOne Theater provides an added dimension to an already robust schedule of interactive options” explains Jason Group, WPPI Director of Education and Membership. “It gives every attendee the opportunity to learn from many of our industry’s most successful photographers, especially those emerging and amateur photographers who may not have registered for Platform Classes.”

The Annual 16×20 Print, Album and Filmmaking Competition Judging

February 28-March 1 (8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.)

Open to all Full Platform Pass holders, the live judging of The Annual 16×20 Print, Album, and Filmmaking Competition is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to learn what components of imagery, composition, and lighting are given precedence over others in competitions, as well as what techniques and skills they can improve upon themselves. Each submission to this competition is given its limelight and receives constructive feedback from a panel of prestigious judges giving attendees deeper insights into industry trends and their peers’ techniques.

 

The University: Business Institute

Saturday, February 28 (9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)

This year’s University is focused on teaching photographers how to expand their businesses, marketing their services, and maximizing their profits even when working with limited resources. Sponsored by WHCC, ShootProof, and Millers, this full day event will be hosted by Sarah Petty and will feature speakers including Phillip Blume, Joy Vertz, and Rachel Brenke.

 

Almost Famous

Saturday, February 28 (8:00 – 11:00 pm)

The fun begins Saturday evening, when attendees display their hidden talents during the Almost Famous talent show hosted by Jerry Ghionis.  Those photographers with dreams of becoming a standup comic, professional musician, singer, or even the next David Copperfield, Almost Famous will take the stage…in Vegas to showcase their (other) talents! The show will be followed by a night of dancing to live music provided by Triple Scoop Music.

 

Launch Pad

Sunday, March 1 (4:00 – 6:00 p.m.)

This is the chance for attendees to get a sneak peak the latest in imaging technology and accessories before they hit the Expo floor Monday morning.  Launch Pad includes numerous exhibitors eager to share their latest products and have one-on-one conversations with attendees. It’s also a great starting point for photographers who want to compare their own equipment with newer models. The week of upcoming classes provides multiple opportunities to find out which features and models best suit their needs.

 

WPPI Official Opening Night Party

Sunday, March 1 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m.)

What better way to officially kick-off WPPI 2015 than a party at Hakkasan, the hottest nightclub in Las Vegas conveniently located inside the MGM Grand?  Sponsored by Canon and Bay Photo, Hakkasan is the perfect setting to see old friends, make new ones, and dance the night away. Poolside Party

Monday, March 2 (8:00 – 11:00 p.m.)

Get outside the halls of the MGM and take a night to network under the stars and enjoy entertainment provided by Triple Scoop Music.  Join your peers, presenters, and WPPI staff for a poolside experience complete with appetizers, cocktails, and music. Keynote Presentation with Joe McNally

Tuesday, March 3 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m.)

Join Joe McNally on his keynote entitled, Tales from the Road—A Life on Assignment. He will take you through 35 years shooting as one of the most prolific photojournalists of our time. As a former contract photographer for Sports Illustrated, a staff photographer for LIFE, and an ongoing contributor to National Geographic, McNally has traveled the world and brought us back countless images that each time astound and enthrall, as well as compel us to want to follow in his footsteps. Over the years he has selflessly shared many lessons with us—all in the spirit of education, inspiration and motivation to make us better photographers. We guarantee you’ll laugh, learn and cry all in one priceless evening of life lessons. Honors of Excellence Award Ceremony

The official closing event for WPPI, the ceremony is the perfect way to end a perfect week.
