RA Quick Tip: A Few Very Important Steps of Beauty Retouching Workflow Before Retouching Even Begins

I often get asked about my retouching techniques and by the way those questions are asked I realize that a lot of photographers and retouchers dismiss the true power of Raw files. So today I would like to share with you how I process my Raw files and prepare them for retouching. While it may seem like an unimportant part of a retouching workflow, I am convinced that if you’re not doing it right, you might as well just shoot in JPEG.

I recently shared a 3-part article titled Beauty Retouching Workflow: Before Retouching Even Begins on my Master Beauty Photography blog. I wrote about the things that I am convinced are very important to keep in mind before you even consider investing your time into retouching an image. If you’re interested in this topic, you can find the first part of the article here.

In the second part, I talked about my organization and rating system. That’s simple, right? The truth is, it very well may be that it’s not your best images that the world ends up seeing it you don’t have a proper rating, comparing and selection process in place.

And finally, in the third and final part of this article, I shared my Raw processing system and a short video tutorial that demonstrated how I do it. You can watch the video below, and find the actual article here.
